This whole thing started with me wanting to be a photographer. Whether as a hobby or professional, I wasn’t sure. All I can tell you is that I wanted to be behind the lens. After just a few cookie cutter style photoshoots, it quickly evolved into an overwhelming need to use my talents and creativity, my passion for travelling and the outdoors - and my unbridled , wonderous curiosity about what’s really out there in the world to tell stories. I thought of this brilliant plan that I thought was the key to happiness, then I realized I didn’t know what stories I wanted to tell. I evaluated what was important to me. I asked myself, “What do I stand for?” and it always circled back to the woods. I grew up in the dense Michigan woods. They aren’t where I reside anymore, far from it, in fact. But the woods are, and always will be, my home - and I decided I needed to put my energies into protecting our planet. If I can take one thought provoking image that makes someone think, “Wow, we can do better than this.” than I’ve succeeded.
